Ambassador Steven K. Wondu, Auditor General

Steven K. Wondu was appointed the Auditor General of South Sudan by Presidential Decree and the appointment was confirmed by Parliament on 7th February 2010.

Before his current position he held the position of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Tokyo, Japan (2006-10).
He previously served as the State Secretary of Central Equitoria State (2005-06), SPLM Representative in Washington (1996-2005), and SPLM Spokesman in Nairobi (1993-95).

he Auditor General has served in the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) for more than 20 years. He was the Auditor General during the SPLM’s struggle for liberation in Sudan.

In his earlier life, he taught in various Kenyan institutions including: Kenya College of Accountancy, Strathmore College Nairobi, Mombasa Polytechnic and Menengai High School in Nakuru. He also served in the Sudan civil service.

Ambassador Wondu attended various institutions of higher learning including George Washington University in the United States, University of Reading in the UK, University of Nairobi in Kenya, Makerere University in Uganda and the Kenya Institute of Administration.

He is the author of Battle for Peace in Sudan: An Analysis of the Abuja Conferences, 1992-1993, (University Press of America, 2000). His next book From bush to Bush: Journey to Liberty in South Sudan was published in 2011. He has written many articles on the war and peace in the Sudan over the years.
